For most of its early history, the Township of Brick was a fishing and agricultural center. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the New Jersey Shore was being developed as a resort area. Because of this, the main economy shifted from agriculture to commercial activities associated with seasonal resorts. Today, with approximately 76,200 residents, Brick is certainly no longer an undeveloped region. Regardless of the large size of the township (32.3 square miles), Brick remains the second safest place to live in America, according to 2003 FBI statistics. Brick enjoys a location that is convenient to all the best attractions of Ocean County, including three pristine beaches of its own. It has a remarkable variety of recreational activities as well as shopping and easy access to other shore towns such as Point Pleasant and Bay Head.

Brick NJ Schools

The Brick Public Schools serve students in prekindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district are Brick Primary Learning Center for prekindergarten and kindergarten, seven elementary schools servicing grades 1 – 5; Drum Point, Emma Havens Young , Herbertsville, Lanes Mill, Midstreams, Osborneville, Veterans. For grades 6-8, students attend Lake Riviera Middle School and Veterans Memorial Middle School. For grades 9-12, students attend Brick Memorial High School and Brick Township High School.

Nonsectarian private schools, including Cuddle Care Early Childhood Center and Ocean Early Childhood Center, are also a part of the Brick Township educational service. In addition to these, St. Thomas Christian Academy is a Evangelical Lutheran Church in America private school. Finally, St. Dominic Elementary School, a Roman Catholic Private School, and St. Paul's Christian School, a Methodist Private School, serve as a part of the Brick Township educational service from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade.
